Freshwater Plan Change Review

Whangarei District Council’s (WDC) Infrastructure Planning Department engaged the services of Commons to review Northland Regional Council’s (NRC) proposed Freshwater Plan Change on their behalf.

The review required assessment of the proposed text of the Plan Change and meeting with senior WDC staff to collect their views on the proposed rules. Feedback was then drafted into a review document and formally submitted to the NRC.

The review captured key concerns of the WDC as a public service provider to ensure new rules would not unduly impact the delivery of these services in the future, whilst balancing this with responsible and sustainable resource management.
